College of Business Spring 2025 Student Accomplishments
The Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at Virginia State University celebrated the following spring 2025 student accomplishments.
(1) Katheryn Moore (Marketing major) earned a $10,000 scholarship from Amazon Music along with an all-expenses paid trip to the annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles in 2026.
(2) Devin Darling (Management major) earned a paid internship for the summer in Chesterfield responsible for project management at Mark Turner Construction.
(3) Nakiyah Jones (Marketing major) earned a paid internship for the summer in Richmond at Richmond Region Tourism responsible for marketing.
(4) Shelby Moore (Accounting major), Patrick Ricks (Accounting major) and Anita Yee (Accounting major) participated in a CAFP conference at the Virginia Society of CPAs in Henrico with over forty businesses.
(5) Trevor Brown Chatman (Marketing major) and Jaihmarion Malone (Information Systems major) participated in a networking event in Petersburg with ten businesses.
(6) Amyia Morgan (Management major) has earned an opportunity to study abroad in Ghana this summer and will depart on May 14.
(7) Nyla Marshall (Management major) earned a paid internship for the summer in D.C. at Breakthrough Beverage where she will be responsible for business development.
(8) Fesaija Foster (Information Systems major) earned a paid summer internship in Glen Allen at the Virginia Department of Social Services responsible for ServiceDesk technician duties.
(9) Kiersten Williams (Marketing major) earned a paid internship for the summer at the Crater Planning District Commission and will be responsible for augmenting the tree canopy in the region.
(10) Jacynda Trent (Accounting major) earned an accounting internship for the spring at RVA Financial.
(11) Justin Francis (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for the summer at the Wall Street Diversity Accelerator and will join Hope Woodies (Marketing major) as previously announced.
(12) Monique Simmons (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for the spring in accounting at A G Reese & Associates in Richmond.
(13) Devin Darling (Management major) launched his own real estate business Darling Investment Properties and closed his first deal in the City of Petersburg.
(14) Rose Moyenga (Information Systems major) earned her U.S. citizenship and participated in her Naturalization Ceremony in Baltimore.
(15) Kyra Royal (Management major) earned an invite to participate in RVA Fashion Week to start April 21 responsible for the models’ hair.
(16) Katheryn Moore (Marketing major), Shelby Moore (Accounting major) and Jasmine Pierce (Marketing major) attended an American Marketing Association networking event in Richmond.
(17) Nylan Taylor (Marketing major) earned a sales internship for the spring at the social media company Altruize.
(18) Nyalynn Cherry (Accounting major) participated in a Women in Business networking event in Chester with fifty businesses.
(19) Lauren Parham (Management/HR major) earned a paid HR internship for the summer at Under Armour in Baltimore; Lauren has also earned internships in HR for the summer at Dominion and at IBM.
(20) Joshua Latta (Management major) participated in a real estate networking event in Colonial Heights with sixty businesses.
(21) Faye Izatt (Accounting major) earned admission to graduate school at Virginia Tech to be paid in full by KPMG where she has accepted an offer to work in audit in Richmond.
(22) Moussa Sanogo (Accounting major) visited with Ricky Parker (VP) from Chase in Richmond.
(23) Marcus Jordan (Accounting major), Katheryn Moore (Marketing major), Shelby Moore (Accounting major), Aniya Omopariola (Marketing major) and Chloe Williams (Accounting major) earned an all-expenses paid trip to Atlanta this summer August 11-13 to participate in the 19th Annual Conference of African American Financial Professionals.
(24) Sarah Diamond (Information Systems major), Kayla Johnson (Management major) and Isaac Savage (Accounting major) participated in the HBCU National Band & Orchestra Directors’ Consortium in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
(25) Malik Alston (Management major) married his high school sweetheart in Alabama.
(26) Micaiah Agyei (Information Systems major), Yvette Drakeford (Marketing major), Kayla House (Accounting major) and Aiyona King (Accounting major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Chesterfield Public Library, KPMG and Deloitte.
(27) Soleil Davis (Management major), LaDavious Smith (Management major) and Anthony Williams (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Resist Bookstores.

(29) Nyalynn Cherry (Accounting major) participated in a Women’s Networking Event in Chester with fifteen businesses.
(30) Micah Stewart (Accounting major) earned an opportunity to participate in a Conversation Starter workshop at Old Dominion University to be held March 22 in Norfolk.

(32) Tania Outland (Management major), Jayden Reid (Marketing major), Kristin Robinson (Management major) and Elise Thomas (Accounting major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Capital One, Shoe Crazy Wine, RVA Financial and New York Life.
(33) One hundred students attended the College’s Student Leadership Conference with Ron Phillips (Executive VP) from Sysco.
(34) Ten students in Accounting Information Systems hosted Lauren Bowman (Tax Manager) from KPMG in the classroom. A big thanks to Leah Hall and Ted Andrews for their hospitality!
(35) Twenty-five students in the Real Estate Club hosted Essie Weiss (Co-Founder) from Legacy VA for a workshop relevant to Risk v Reward.
(36) Twenty-one students hosted Afreen Gootee (Owner) from Thoughtful Minds Consulting for a workshop pertinent to Women in Business.
(37) Twenty-three students attended the VSU Career Expo with fifteen companies.
(38) Nineteen students hosted Sam Hayes (Owner) from Stratageum in the classroom. A big thanks to Louis Dabney for his hospitality!
(39) Fifty-five students participated in the Virginia Board of Accountancy meeting including companies like KPMG.
(40) Darrius Billingsley (Marketing major) earned a paid internship for the summer in D.C. responsible for merchandising at Framebridge.
(41) Gabby Gunn (Accounting major) and Justin Francis (Accounting major) along with colleagues in NABA hosted nearly fifty K-12 students for a NABA Undergraduate Bridge Day in Singleton.
(42) Bryan Hobbs (Management major) earned an invite to travel to Tanzania for two weeks this summer as part of the VSU Debate Team to compete against Morehouse College.
(43) Jada Bourne (Management major) earned a virtual civil rights internship for the balance of the semester and summer at Action Academy.

(83) Fifty-one students participated in the College of Business Learning by Doing In an Outdoor Classroom Give Back Week by removing over thirty-three pounds of litter from the VSU campus.
(84) SyAna Archie (Management major) earned a paid internship for the summer in HR with Henrico County.
(85) Domonic Edwards (Marketing major) earned a paid summer internship at W.M. Jordan in Richmond and will team with alum Chanel Brown (Marketing major & 2019 grad).

(87) Nia Winston (Management/HR major) earned admission to graduate school to earn a M.B.A. at both Old Dominion University and Hampton University; she has not decided between the two.
(88) Shelby Moore (Accounting major) won a $500 grant for her business at the VSU Women Legacy Brunch and was admitted to the Central Virginia African American Chamber of Commerce Business Accelerator Program.

(97) Twelve students participated in a book signing in Singleton with Christine Carmichael (Author) relevant to Dining Etiquette Simplified.
(98) Kiersten Williams (Marketing major) earned an opportunity to study-abroad in Uganda this summer; it will be Kiersten’s third country to visit for study-abroad having previously been to Britain and France.
(99) Micah Stewart (Accounting major) competed in a HBCU Nationals Speech and Debate event at Howard University.
(100) Shelby Moore (Accounting major) and Jasmine Pierce (Marketing major) earned an opportunity to participate in the American Marketing Association (AMA) International Collegiate Conference April 3- 5 in New Orleans.
(101) Desmond Allen (Management major), Cameron Bunns (Information Systems major), Gabby Gunn (Accounting major), Kayla Johnson (Management major), Mekhi Johnson (Accounting major), Brooke McClinton (Information Systems major), Amel Viaud (Marketing major), Kiersten Williams (Marketing major) and Hope Woodies (Marketing major) hosted a team from Uganda including the Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University for a conversation on campus about HBCUs and collaboration.
(102) Sixty students participated in a Real Estate Club workshop with Sam Villalobos (Lead Engineer) from Skanska pertinent to Women in Construction and twenty students participated in a VIP Tour of the new Academic Commons Building.
