Provost Student Complaints Process

The Office of the Provost is dedicated to ensuring that all students at Virginia State University have access to the resources they need to succeed academically and professionally.

As the Chief Academic Officer, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, oversees academic programs, student success initiatives, and academic policies that enhance your educational experience.

Below, you will find a list of key academic and student support services.

If you have any academic concerns or complaints, please follow the Student Complaint Process outlined below to seek resolution.

Academic Support & Services

  • Office of the Provost: Provides leadership for all academic affairs, ensuring high-quality programs, faculty excellence, and student success.
  • Academic Center for Excellence (ACE): Offers tutoring, mentoring, and academic workshops to support student achievement.
  • Registrar's Office: Handles course registration, academic records, and graduation processing.

Student Concerns & Complaints

Virginia State University strives to create a fair, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Students experiencing academic or non-academic concerns are encouraged to follow the university’s Student Complaint Process:

  1. Address the Issue at the Department Level: Speak with the relevant instructor, advisor, or department Chair to resolve your concerns informally.
  2. If unresolved at the Department Chair’s level, then address the issue at the College Dean’s Level

  3. Submit a Formal Complaint: If unresolved at both the Chair and Dean’s level, submit a complaint through the student complaint process using the Trojan Care Form.

  4. Escalation to the Provost: If all steps have been exhausted and resolution has not been reached, students may escalate their concerns by contacting:
