Academy of Faculty Enrichment (AFE) University Fellows Program

Program Overview

The AFE is committed to Strategic Priority 2: Sustaining Academic Excellence by developing and retaining talented and renowned faculty in an intellectual environment that supports excellence in teaching, mentoring, research, and service. Highly effective professional development opportunities are essential to accomplishing the goals and objectives in Priority 2. The University Fellows Program is an extension of the AFE's quest to amplify the voices of the talented faculty and staff at Virginia State. During the fellowship experience, faculty and staff will engage in multiple interdisciplinary learning communities to optimize professional development opportunities and research interests.

Program Goals

Fellows will participate in a variety of interdisciplinary activities including but not limited to:

  • Designing and implementing a range of workshops, institutes, seminars, and symposiums on topics that support the needs and interests of faculty and staff.
  • Providing leadership and collaborating with faculty and staff through monthly activities (i.e., brown bag presentations, book talks, learning communities, mentoring).
  • Planning and executing campus-wide initiatives that support increased productivity and effectiveness in the delivery of service and mentoring of VSU students.
  • Participating in Opening Conference activities.
