Welcome to Virginia State University! Now that you have been admitted, there are steps you need to take to confirm your status, secure your position, and begin your first semester at VSU.

Step 1: ACCEPT THE OFFER
To accept your non-binding offer of admission,
- Sign in to your online application account
- Under the Action section, click “View”
- Click “Respond Now” on your Decision History screen
- Click “I Accept Admission”
Step 2: PAY YOUR ENROLLMENT FEE
Upon acceptance to the University, all newly admitted students are required to pay an enrollment fee to be recognized as a VSU student and register for the upcoming term. To secure your spot in the upcoming class and submit your enrollment fee or to learn more, CLICK HERE. Payments may take up to three (3) business days to post to your account.
Step 3: ACCESS VSU STUDENT SELF SERVICE
After your enrollment fee has posted to your account, you will be able to access your VSU Student Self Service.
How to access VSU Student Self Service:
- Click: VSU Student Self Service
- Log in with User ID (V#) and PIN.
- User ID is case sensitive, so you must use a capital “V”.
- Your PIN in your six-digit date of birth entered as a 2-digit month, day and year.
Example November 03, 1999 would be entered as 11 0399 .
- Click the “ Student, Housing and Financial Aid ” tab to access your account information.
Please note: To activate your account, you must have completed steps 1 & 2.
Step 4: REGISTER FOR ORIENTATION
Newly admitted students attend The Trojan Introduction Program (TIP), during the months of June and July for students entering the fall semester and January for students entering the spring semester. TIP registration dates are available, to sign up, CLICK HERE.
Please note: To register for TIP, you must have completed steps 1 & 2.
Step 5: SUBMIT ONLINE HOUSING APPLICATION & ROOM DEPOSIT
In order to receive a housing assignment students must complete an online housing application AND pay the $150 Room Deposit. Information on how to complete your online housing application and deposit payment instructions can be found here: Hou s ing Application. The $150.00 room deposit is refundable. If you no longer plan to live on campus after submitting your housing deposit, send an e-mail to email@example.com to request a refund. For details, please visit the Residence Li f e & Housing webpage.
Please note: To apply for housing, you must have completed steps 1, 2 & 3.
Step 6: ACTIVATE STUDENT E-MAIL & ACTIVE DIRECTORY
Your student Email is the best way to communicate with all Faculty and Staff at the University. Click HERE to set up your student E-mail as all university communication will be sent to the student E-mail account.
The Active Directory is your link to our campus network. Until your AD account is activated, you will be unable to access the Internet, Wi-Fi (on campus), Microsoft Office product installations, VSU computer labs, Medical, Blackboard, and more. Click HERE for instructions to activate your account.
Step 7: COMPLETE YOUR ONLINE FASFA
To apply for most financial aid, including federal and state student grants, work-study, and loans, you’ll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Although this financial aid form may seem complex, there are many free resources to help you. Visit the VSU Financial Aid webpage for more information.
Step 8: RETURN HEALTH FORMS
Every new full-time student entering Virginia State University is required to provide the Health Evaluation Forms prior to enrollment. The forms are located in your NEW STUDENT GUIDE Please complete the forms with all required documents and submit them to Student Health Services through the VSU Medicat secure online portal or mail documents to:

Be sure to retain a copy for your records. The completed form is due by June 1 st for the fall term and by Dec. 1 st for the spring term.
Please note: To submit your forms through the secure VSU Medical portal, you must have completed step 6.
Step 8: SUBMIT FINAL TRANSCRIPTS AND TEST SCORES
To complete the enrollment process, submit your final high school transcript and any dual enrollment coursework to the Office of Admissions. The final transcript is different from the transcript you submitted to obtain admission to the University. The final high school transcript will include your graduation date. If you have AP/ IB test results or have dual enrollment (DE) credits, send the test score report(s) and/or college transcript to VSU Admissions prior to attending New Student Orientation. Keep in mind, DE grades on a high school transcript will NOT apply for college credit.
