Transfer Students
Applicants who have attended a regionally accredited college or university are considered for admission to all sessions. Applicants must have a cumulative average of “C” (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or above and be in good standing at the previous institutions. Courses eligible for transfer must be college-level courses (100-level or higher) with a minimum grade of "C".
A transfer applicant with fewer than 30 semester hours must submit an official final high school transcript as well as a full SAT or ACT score report along with the college transcript.
Apply Now / Check StatusRequest for InformationTransfer EquivalencyAn applicant transferring from a Virginia Community College, California Community College, or Richard Bland College, who completed the requirements for the Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in the College Parallel/College Transfer Program, may be granted junior status at VSU upon admission. An applicant who has not completed the requirements for an Associate of Arts or Science degree may be admitted based on a course-by-course credit evaluation. Applicants with the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree and applicants from other states will be evaluated based on a course by course method.
Applying for Admission
To apply for admission to Virginia State University as a transfer student, the applicant must submit the following:
- FREE online application
- Official transcripts from ALL colleges or universities attended
- *High school transcript, if less than 24 credits earned
- *SAT/ACT score report, if less than 24 college credits earned
All documentation must be submitted no later than December 15 for the spring semester or July 15 for the fall semester.
To complete the enrollment process, submit your final high school/college transcript to the Office of Admissions. The final transcript is different from the transcript you submitted to obtain admission to the University. The final high school transcript will include your graduation date. If you have AP/ IB test results, please request the official scores to be sent to VSU Office of Admissions. For dual enrollment credits, please send your official college transcript to VSU Office of Admissions. We recommend that you send the test score report(s) and/or college transcript to VSU Office of Admissions prior to attending New Student Orientation.
Founder's Scholarship
This award is available to incoming transfer students who have completed an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with a 3.0 or better GPA. This $6,500 award is renewable one (1) additional year if the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0, pass 30 credit hours during the school year, participates in the University Honors program, and maintains residence on campus. Incoming students are automatically reviewed for this scholarship during the admission process. Students possessing an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree are not eligible for this award.
