Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.), Educational Administration and Supervision Fact Sheet
Virginia State University provides a five-semester part-time curriculum for the Registered Nurse (RN) to further their education and obtain a BSN degree. This degree completion program is entirely online. The curriculum aligns with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing guidelines for baccalaureate-prepared graduates.
VSU offers the RN-BSN completion program only. Taught through VSU Online, all faculty in the department are credentialed in online teaching and learning practices. Through asynchronous instruction, learners complete two-three credit courses, one course every eight weeks each semester. Each semester, the learner completes six credits.

VSU’s online MSW degree in Social Work is to educate and prepare students for clinical social work practice with individuals, families, groups, and organizations within diverse community contexts. Clinical practice emphasizes transactions between people and environments, preparing students to develop practice knowledge and skills in the following areas: (a) the promotion and enhancement of psychological, social, and biological well-being; (b) the amelioration of psychological, social, and biological dysfunction; and (c) the integration of theory, practice and research knowledge.

The Graduate Certificate in Educational Administration and Supervision is a 21-credit hour program. The program is designed to train students in the concepts of leading preK-12 schools and to meet the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) requirements for endorsement in school administration and supervision. Students will gain knowledge in managerial leadership, for example management of technology in schools and human resources in schools. Students will learn to create school community partnerships (e.g., Communities in Schools, Boys and Girls Club of America, YMCA). Students will also learn to develop goals for continuous school improvement. The program will educate students in the educational laws impacting preK-12 settings. Graduates will be able to serve in leadership positions, such as assistant principals and principals in prek-12 schools
