Trojan Leadership Program
The Trojan Leadership Program cultivates and prepares students to become leaders in industry, government and community. On a yearly basis, students participate in workshops, networking events, experiential learning, seminars, guest speakers , special events and field trips.
Sophomore, junior and May graduating seniors will participate in the TLTrojan Leaders will learn transferrable skills that will prepare them for leadership in their careers and life. Ø Trojan Leaders will have many opportunities to network with VSU Executive Leadership, corporate partners, and special University guests. Ø Trojan Leaders will be provided a certificate at program completion and a letter of recommendation from the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs. TARGET MARKET Students enrolled at Virginia State University who have successfully completed 30 credit hours. Who desire to enrich the learning experience and become servant leaders in the community, campus and beyond. Must interview with Director of Civic Engagement & Student leadership and provide two letters of reference. PRODUCT DEMOGRAPHICS Upcoming sophomores, rising juniors and seniors who will graduate in May. TARGET CONTACT DEMOGRAPHICS Students with an overall GPA of 2.5 and some community/volunteer service The curriculum is divided into four parts: o Lasting Personal Change o Admired Leadership o Equity, Diversity & Inclusion o Check- up & Accountability The Trojan Leadership Program at Virginia State University is a newly established and prestigious student leadership program. Its primary purpose is to mentor and assist first-year and transfer students in making their transition into Virginia State University that much easier!
Our inaugural cohort of leaders exceed the minimum GPA of a 2.5 and many have achieved over a 3.0. Our leaders are trained, diverse, talented, and have demonstrated their commitment to VSU’s values. Our leaders are from California, New York, Virginia and other areas in the US. Therefore, you should be able to connect with our leaders on many different areas of common interests.
