Know Before You Go: Spring 2025 Commencement Information
Everything you need to know for Commencement Day at Virginia State University.
Attention Spring 2025 Commencement Attendees,
We look forward to a GREATER 2025 Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 17, inside the VSU Multipurpose Center. This marks a significant milestone for our Spring 2025 graduates, and we are thrilled to celebrate this outstanding achievement together.
But before the celebration can begin, we must share important information before attending Saturday's Commencement:
Ceremony Schedule
- Two ceremonies will be held on Saturday:
- 8:30 am processional/ceremony: College of Education & College of Humanities & Social Sciences
- 1:30 pm processional/ceremony: College of Agriculture, College of Engineering & Technology, College of Natural & Health Sciences, Reginald F. Lewis College of Business
- Both ceremonies will be livestreamed on the VSU website and broadcast on 91.3 WVST, The Source.
Arrival & Parking For Guests
- Parking at Commencement is FREE.
- Encourage guests to arrive early to see the start of the procession.
Clear Bag Policy
- Bags must be clear plastic/vinyl/PVC and no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″
- Small clutch bags (4.5″ x 6.5″ max) are allowed but will be searched
- One-gallon Ziploc-style bags are OK
- Exceptions made for medical needs (with inspection)
Prohibited Items
The following are not allowed in the venue:
- Balloons
- Backpacks
- Flowers
- Gift boxes/bags
Photography
- Guests are not allowed on the arena floor for photos.
- Professional photographers will capture key moments.
- Links to photos will be emailed to students after the ceremonies.
