Virginia State University Announces 2026 Homecoming Parade Route

Annual tradition returns Saturday, October 10; motorists encouraged to plan ahead.

Virginia State University is pleased to announce the route for its 2026 Homecoming Parade, which will take place on Saturday, October 10, as part of the University's Homecoming celebration, "College Hill: The Remix."

One of Homecoming's most anticipated traditions, the parade will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and feature student organizations, alumni groups, community organizations, marching bands, floats, and plenty of Trojan spirit.

For the second consecutive year, the parade will utilize the route introduced in 2025, which was designed to enhance the experience for participants and spectators while supporting traffic flow for the thousands of visitors expected on campus during Homecoming weekend.

The parade route will begin on Chesterfield Avenue in front of Ettrick Elementary School, travel through the Virginia State University campus along Boisseau Street to University Avenue, exit through the south gate to Chesterfield Avenue, turn left onto Grove Avenue, and Conclude at the intersection of Sycamore and Old Street.

"We are excited to once again bring the Homecoming Parade through campus and into the surrounding community," said Regina Barnett-Tyler, Co-Chair of the Homecoming Committee. "The parade is one of Virginia State University's most beloved traditions and provides an opportunity for students, alumni, families, and community members to come together and celebrate Trojan pride."

Motorists should expect temporary road closures and traffic delays along the parade route on the morning of October 10 and are encouraged to plan alternate routes as needed. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and follow all instructions from law enforcement officers and event staff.

The parade is one of several signature events scheduled during Homecoming Week, October 3-10, culminating in a full weekend of activities, including alumni gatherings, tailgating, vendors, and the Homecoming football game featuring the Virginia State University Trojans and the Livingstone College Blue Bears.
