Research Interest: Dr. Keen research interests include examining the psychoneuroimmunological influences of cannabis use and neurocognitive performance in community-based and young adult samples. Dr. Keen also has research interests in substance use patterns in young adults and their associations with psychological and autonomic nervous system markers.

Research interest: Dr. Lawrence’s research interests include investigating the impact of gender ideology, social constructs, and Intersectionality on mental health outcomes. Dr. Lawrence focuses her work on underrepresented communities including: African Americans, women and the LGBT+ community.

Research Interest: Application of quantitative methods (statistical modeling) in education and health research. Interested mainly in Latent class analysis, multilevel modeling, structural equation models, multivariate regression modeling, longitudinal analysis, survival analysis, Bayesian statistics and machine learning techniques. Utilizing large scale survey data to examine educational outcomes, behavioral and health outcomes among children.
Substantive areas of interest: Children’s eating habits (Self-regulation and restrictive feeding), obesity and schooling outcomes.

Research Interest: Alexis Morris' research interest includes exploring the associations among reproductive health throughout the perinatal period, cardiovascular activity, and substance use among African American women. Her ultimate goal is to become a reproductive health researcher specializing in cardiovascular health and substance use.

Brittany S. Powell, MPH

Research Interest: Brittany Powell’s research interests are grounded in public health and focus on chronic disease prevention, with particular emphasis on autoimmune conditions such as lupus and rheumatic diseases. She is especially interested in examining how nutrition, psychosocial stress, and socioeconomic and environmental factors influence disease risk, progression, and health outcomes. Through this work, she aims to contribute to culturally responsive, community-engaged strategies that reduce health disparities and promote long-term wellness.
