A Greater Institution Since 1882
Virginia State University, founded in 1882, is one of Virginia's two land-grant institutions, and is located 23 miles south of Richmond in the village of Ettrick.
As a cornerstone of our community, we pride ourselves on our commitment to empowering people of all ages, abilities and ambitions. The newly formed VSU Cares is a community healthcare initiative that provides the uninsured and under-insured with free medical screenings and dental care. Serving five jurisdictions, with many more slated to join, our dual enrollment program allows qualified high school juniors and seniors to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and college course credits. Through various organizations and programs, our students provide countless hours of community service and assistance that directly impacts the lives of many.
We are committed to building a better world through challenging academic programs, diverse student organizations and exciting extracurricular activities. We invite you to visit and explore how you can be part of our work.
