Virginia State University Students Featured During Governor-Elect Abigail Spanberger’s Historic Inauguration

Three VSU student groups, including the Concert Choir, Gospel Chorale, and NPHC All-Star Step Team, are participating in official inaugural events.

Virginia State University is featured prominently during Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger’s historic inauguration week. Three VSU student groups are participating in official inaugural events, highlighting the University’s role in this historic celebration of Virginia’s first female governor.

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the VSU Gospel Chorale performed at a prayer breakfast held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, with Governor Glenn Youngkin and Governor-elect Spanberger in attendance.

On Saturday, January 17, 2026, the VSU Concert Choir will perform a single musical selection during the inauguration prayer breakfast. The event is not open to the public and will not be livestreamed.

Later that day, the VSU NPHC (National Pan-Hellenic Council) All-Star Step Team, composed of members from Virginia State University’s Divine Nine fraternities and sororities, will perform in the inaugural parade immediately following the oath of office.
