VSU Coach Nadine Domond Named CIAA Women's Basketball Coach Of The Year

Coach Domond and four VSU student-athletes earned accolades for their success during the 2024-2025 regular season.

Virginia State University is proud to celebrate head women's basketball coach Nadine Domond for being named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Coach of the Year. Coach Domond led the Lady Trojans to an impressive 21-5 record during the 2024-2025 regular season and a first-place finish in the Northern Division of the CIAA with a 14-2 conference record.

"It is a tremendous honor to be named the CIAA Women's Coach of the Year," said Domond. "I am grateful to be coaching at Virginia State University, where I get to work with an outstanding group of women who continue to inspire me with their hard work and commitment to excellence as both athletes and scholars."

Coach Domond was hired as the VSU women's basketball coach in 2022, steadily building up the program each season. She now hopes to help her team win their first CIAA Championship since 2015. The tournament is being held Tuesday, February 25, through Sunday, March 1, in Baltimore, Maryland.

In addition to Coach Domond's recognition, junior forward Carmen Kwetifour was named the CIAA Women's Defensive Player of the Year. Four VSU student-athletes, including Jacob Cooper, Amesha Miller, Anii Harris, and Kwetifour, were also selected to the men's and women's All-CIAA teams.

The University is incredibly proud of Coach Domond and all its student-athletes for their hard work and dedication throughout the season while upholding the VSU mantra: Greater Happens Here.
