VSU Women's LeadHERship Institute Announces Inaugural Conference to Empower Women Leaders
The Institute aims to honor Women's History Month by inspiring women to take control of their leadership.
Virginia State University is pleased to announce that its Women's LeadHERship Institute will host its inaugural conference on Thursday, March 28, in recognition of Women's History Month. The conference will include thought-provoking discussions curated to encourage, educate, and invigorate women leaders at VSU.
The University's Women's LeadHERship Institute is an initiative that started in 2023 dedicated to the empowerment and growth of women in the realm of higher education leadership. The institute recognizes how challenging leadership can be and believes this initial conference will equip participants with indispensable tools to bolster their leadership resilience.
"There is no better way to commemorate Women's History Month than by honoring and empowering women in leadership," said Dr. Tia Minnis, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Executive Director for the Women's LeadHERship Institute. "This gathering will serve as a platform for collaboration, inspiration, and the exchange of ideas, driving forward our mission to cultivate the next generation of trailblazing women leaders."
The conference's theme, "A Day in LeadHERship," will illuminate the intricate strengths, perspectives, and sacrifices women have experienced on their journeys to lead. A thoughtfully planned panel will offer insights on navigating multifaceted pathways to university leadership, transforming mindsets using diverse perspectives, claiming space at leadership tables, and elevating knowledge and expertise.
The conference will be held at the Gateway Dining and Event Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a networking session will be offered from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The conference is free and open to the public and designed for women at every stage of their leadership development.
