Arrest Made In The Shooting Of VSU Officer Bruce Foster

According to Chesterfield police, 21-year-old Deonta M. Blount of Chester was arrested last night without incident. He has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer and use of a firearm in the commissions of aggravated malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer. He is being held without bond in the Chesterfield County Jail.
According to University records, Deonta M. Blount is not, and has not ever, been registered as a VSU student.

Officer Foster remains hospitalized in stable condition. We continue to keep Officer Foster and his family in our thoughts and prayers.
