VSU Breaks 30-year Record For Enrollment Of New Students
Virginia State University reports the largest year-to-year enrollment increase in a decade.
As colleges across the nation continue to experience a decline in undergraduate enrollment, Virginia State University is recording its second straight year of record-high numbers. The fall 2022-23 incoming class is the University’s largest incoming class of new students in more than three decades. VSU welcomed more than 1700 new students (first-time freshmen and transfer students). This is an increase of more than 550 new students over this same time last year. The 53% increase in first-time students marks the second consecutive year of record enrollment at VSU.
The fall 2022 University enrollmentgrew by 349 students for a total enrollment of 4649 students. This is an increase of more than 8 percent over fall 2021. The increase is the single largest year-to-year increase in enrollment at VSU in over a decade—topping the 7 percent increase the University experienced in fall 2021.

VSU granted more than 300 academic scholarships for incoming students in fall 2022.”
