Virginia State University Students Receive National Leadership Awards

Ten VSU students participated in the Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda, National Leadership Conference, representing the VSU Reginald F. Lewis College of Business.  From June 24-28, 2022, the students participated in nine business disciplines and won between 4th and 9th place amongst business school participants nationwide.  The disciplines are Business Sustainability, Business Presentation, Accounting Principles, Digital Media, Public Speaking, Website Design, Strategic Analysis and Decision Making, Integrated Marketing Campaign, and Community Service.  Highlights of the trip are listed below: 
  
  • Virginia State University won Outstanding Chapter for The Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Professor Louis Dabney was recognized as Advisor of The Year for The Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Virginia State University was the only institution from Virginia to receive awards on the national level. National Leadership Conference competitions involve each state and 2 U.S. territories, all of which send at least one competitor for each competition. 
    • Kameron Lawrence placed 4th in the U.S. in the Integrated Marketing Campaign competition
    • Tynajah Barbour, Shannon Lee and Kameron Spence placed 5th in U.S. in the Business Sustainability competition.
    • Ruqayah Ibrahim placed 7th in the U.S. in the Website Design competition
    • Monet’ Creque placed 7th in the U.S. in the Future Business Educator competition
    • Ceara Donald placed 8thin the U.S. in the Business Presentation competition
    • Ceara Donald placed 9th in the U.S. in Strategic Analysis and Decision-Making competition
    • Ceara Donald placed 9th in the U.S. in Community Service competition
    • 3 students competed in the Public Speaking (Siani Peterson), Digital Media (Davon Bell) and Accounting Principles (Cynthia Davis) competitions.
