VSU to Offer the University’s First Ever Fully Online Four-Year Degree

Virginia State University is excited to announce the University’s first ever four year fully online undergraduate degree program. The new fully online Hospitality Management degree is also the first fully online hospitality bachelor's degree offered at any public university in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The online Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Hospitality Management will provide leadership and managerial training with real world hospitality educational experiences. Graduates of this program will be prepared for managerial employment positions and be skilled in all areas of the hospitality management environment.

“This program is indicative of the growth happening at Virginia State University,” said Dr. Berkita Bradford, Chair of the VSU Department of Hospitality Management. “We recognized a reoccurring need for individuals who desire to further their education but also need to work. Students will now have access to the same high-quality program that is offered face to face with increased accessibility for non-traditional students who may have time or geographical restraints.”

The online Hospitality Management degree is one of three new online programs approved at Virginia State University. The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education program has expanded and now offers a fully online option. This option will allow working students or students with other obligations to secure a master's degree in education with the opportunity to impact countless students in meeting their special needs.

In addition, VSU has expanded its current in-person Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree program to also be offered fully online. The online Ed.D. in Educational Administration & Supervision is VSU’s first online doctoral program.

All three programs are currently accepting students for fall 2022.

Over the past two years, VSU has expanded its course offerings to include FIVE fully online programs: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nursing, Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education, Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Administration & Supervision, and Certification in Homefront Readjustment for the Armed Forces.

“The importance of offering virtual and online options has never been clearer,” said Dr. Donald E. Palm, VSU Executive Vice President and Provost. “Thanks to the greater work of our faculty, staff, and administration, Virginia State University continues to move forward. We are excited to expand our course offerings to continue providing transformative opportunities and greater access for our traditional and non-traditional students.”
