Meet the VSU 2020 Battle of the Brains Team

Meet Virginia State University’s team: Ceara Donald (Sophomore, Computer Science), Christine Bautista (Sophomore, Computer Information Systems), Dane Williamson (Senior, Computer Science), Tiara Jasey (Sophomore, Marketing), and AnJanette Byrd (Junior Marketing). The team is coached by Aurelia Donald, Ph.D., assistant professor of computer information systems in the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business.

The 2020 HBCU Battle of the Brains competition will bring together HBCUs from around the country to determine which school will take home the championship! The competition will take place in Austin, TX, March 11-16, 2020. The competition involves interdisciplinary student teams from nearly 40 HBCUs engaged in a 24-hour competition to determine the finalists. The prizes are $25,000 for first place, $15,000 for second place and $10,000 for third place. This will be Virginia State University’s first time competing in the HBCU Battle of the Brain’s Competition and the team is super excited.

In addition to the competition, the students will participate in company tours and workshops to strengthen their business and career readiness skills. The students will also have the opportunity to network with some of the best minds from other HBCUs.
