College of Business Spring 2022 Student Accomplishments

The Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at Virginia State University celebrated the following spring 2022 student accomplishments. 
 
(1) Blaise Davenport (MISY major) earned an invite to study abroad for the fall semester at Oxford.   
 
(2) Jovante White (Accounting major) earned an internship in accounting for the semester at the Center for Audit Quality; Jovante also earned an internship for the summer in accounting at KPMG. 
 
(3) Abraham Schlossberg (Accounting major) participated in an externship in accounting at Keiter.   
 
(4) Naiya Ray (Marketing major) earned a paid internship in marketing and mentoring for the semester at Engage the Foundation. 
 
(5) Donnasia Harper (Marketing major) earned a paid internship for the summer in Charlotte at Ally. 
 
(6) Josalyn Green Jones (Management major) earned a summer internship at Huntington Ingalls at the shipyard in Newport News. 
 
(7) Davon Bell (Management major) participated in a shadow visit with Joe Croce (CEO) at Southside Virginia Association of Realtors in Colonial Heights. 
 
(8) Brianna Williams (Accounting major) earned a full time position in accounting for after graduation at Allmond & Company in Maryland. 
 
(9) Iniya Baines (Accounting major) earned a full time positon in accounting at Allmond & Company in Maryland for after graduation. 
 
(10) Indacia Turner (Accounting major) participated in a shadow visit to PricewaterhouseCoopers in Richmond where she will intern for the summer. 
 
(11) Iyana Logan (Management/HR major with a minor in Accounting) earned a paid internship in accounting for the summer in Charlotte at TIAA. 
 
(12) Abraham Schlossberg (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for the semester in the VSU Budget Office.  
 
(13) Daeja Mason (Management major) earned a position for after graduation in sales at Reynolds Tobacco where she will join Adiana Brittle (Marketing major), Destiny Sanders (Marketing major), Done Prunty (Marketing major), and Beyonce Allen (Marketing major) as previously announced. 
 
(14) Scott Hill (MISY major) earned a $1,000 scholarship from Chick-Fil-A. 
 
(15) Kevon Wharton (MISY major) earned a paid internship for the summer in IT at Rebellion Defense in D.C. 
 
(16) Blaise Davenport (MISY major), Christopher Lawrence (Management major), and Daisha Wyatt (MISY major) were approved to participate in the 2022 HBCU Security Studies Summer Institute in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown. 
 
(17) Brandon Anderson (MISY major) participated in the W.E B. Du Bois Men’s Conference at George Mason University. 
 
(18) Tynese Ramos (Management minor) earned a paid internship for the summer/fall at HBCU First responsible for mentoring. 
 
(19) Justin Anderson (Marketing major) earned a paid internship for the summer doing marketing for Richmond Region Tourism. 
 
(20) Marcus Jones (Management major), Taylor Jones (Management major), and Sterling Mitchell (Management major) placed second at the Howard University Virtual Global Business Summit. 
 
(21) Abraham Schlossberg (Accounting major), Indacia Turner (Accounting major) and Tonya Wright (Accounting major) earned an invite to participate in the Morgan Stanley mentoring program. 
 
(22) Blaise Davenport (MISY major) and Omari Kilkenny (Accounting major) earned an invite to participate in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Metascholarship Program. 
 
(23) Monica Codrington (Management major) was the Top Performer in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by Phlow, Liberty Tax, and Propel Your Career. 
 
(24) Daisha Wyatt (MISY major) earned an invite to participate in the Trojan Introduction Program (TIP) as a Leader for the summer. 
 
(25) Indacia Turner (Accounting major) earned a paid accounting internship for the summer with PricewaterhouseCoopers. 
 
(26) Abraham Schlossberg (Accounting major) participated in a shadow visit with Mark Mellon (Regional Leader) at EdwardJones in Richmond. 
 
(27) Addison Adams (Marketing major) was admitted to law school at Emory University in Atlanta. 
 
(28) Indacia Turner (Accounting major) won a $2,500 scholarship from the National Coalition of Black Women along with an invite to attend the Phenomenal Women Gala on April 2nd in Richmond. 
 
(29) Davon Bell (Management major) participated in a shadow visit with Braxton Byerson (Owner) at BraxB Speaks in Richmond. 
 
(30) Davon Bell (Management major), Emanuel Harris (Marketing major), Janay Samuel (Marketing major), and Abraham Schlossberg (Accounting major) participated in a Southern Virginia Regional Chamber networking event with twenty businesses. 
 
(31) Nine students in Corporate Finance hosted John Asbury (CEO) from Atlantic Union Bank in the classroom.  A big thanks to Jae-K Hwang for his hospitality! 
 
(32) Nolen Dey (Management major), Monica Codrington (Management major), and James Owusu (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by Big Brothers Big Sisters, Women’s Business Center, Aston Carter, RVARealty, HRichnetworks, Woodpeckers Plaques and Crafts, Appteon, and CarMax. 
 
(33) Fifteen students in Personal Finance Management hosted Cherry Dale (VP) from Virginia Credit Union in the classroom.  A big thanks to Steve Holeman for his hospitality! 
 
(34) Eighteen students participated in Maxxtell Creations Day with Chantel Williams (Owner). 
 
(35) Thirty-five students participated in Geico Day with Adwoa Ampomah (Recruiter). 
 
(36) Twenty-five students participated in Womens Business Center Day with Shirley Crawford (Founder). 
 
(37) Forty students participated in C&F Day with Mike Wilson (COO). 
 
(38) Twenty-two students participated in Beacon Day with Nekeshia Packer-Love (VP for HR). 
 
(39) Twelve students participated in Activation Capital Day with Todd Waldo (Founder) from Hugh Helen and Frank Pobutkiewicz (Director of Entrepreneurships and Ecosystems). 
 
(40) Twelve students in Legal, Ethical, and Digital hosted Jason Kamras (Superintendent) from Richmond Public Schools.  A big thanks to Taneisha Brown for her hospitality!  
 
(41) Thirty-four students participated in an Unfiltered Mental Health conversation with Anne Moss Rogers (Author) of both Emotionally Naked and a Diary of a Broken Mind.   
 
(42) Cameron Coram (Entrepreneurship minor), Sheldon Payne (Management major), and Brandon Anderson (MISY major) participated in the People’s Advantage Federal Credit Union ribbon cutting in Petersburg with State Senator Joe Morrissey. 
 
(43) Sierra Robinson and her colleagues on the Student Advisory Board hosted thirty-five students for a Town Hall Conversation pertinent to Excellence. 
 
(44) Helena Abu (Marketing major), Monica Codrington (Management major), Cameron Coram (Entrepreneurship minor), Brian Daughtry (Management major), Merwan Mohamed (Accounting major), Karma Moore (Finance minor), and James Owusu (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by P46 Communications, Chesapeake Bank, Atlantic Union Bank, County of Chesterfield, Anoma Beauty Supply, and Chesterfield County Public Schools. 
 
(45) Fifteen students participated in Appteon Day with Jasmine Cain (Recruiter). 
 
(46) Forty students participated in Goldman Sachs Day with Carl Capel (Accounting 2015 grad). 
 
(47) Donnasia Harper (Marketing major), Kyla Best (Marketing major), Heaven Jenkins (Marketing major), Sierra Robinson (Marketing major), Indacia Turner (Accounting major), Zach Lynch (Marketing major), Nigel Stewart (Accounting major), Ruqayah Ebrahim (Management major), Jovante White (Accounting major), Janay Samuel (Marketing major), Aysia Franklin (Management major), Andreanna Nembhard (Management major), and Aeriyae Johnson (Marketing minor) hosted twenty high school students from Hopewell including because of the visit three students that committed to VSU. 
 
(48) Davon Bell (Management major) participated in a shadow visit with Ray Ferguson (Owner) at Boppers Malt Shop. 
 
(49) Justin Anderson (Marketing major), Davon Bell (Management major), Dominic Braswell (Management major), Tamir Campbell (MISY major), Nolen Dey (Management major), Tyler Epperson (Management major), Tyrone Goodrich (MISY major), Marcus Jones (Management major), Amaya Moses (Management major), James Owusu (Management major), and Naiya Ray (Marketing major) participated in a Career Launch Clean Up along the Appomattox River removing trash and debris. 
 
(50) Brandon Anderson (MISY major) was featured on WRIC8 for participating in a solidarity march.
 
(51) Blaise Davenport (MISY major) earned an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Practitioner Certification. 
 
(52) Aeshia Brown (Management major) was commissioned as a U.S. Army Reserve Officer relevant to the Transportation Corps.

(53) Blaise Davenport (MISY major) and Abraham Schlossberg (Accounting major) participated in the Commonwealth Association for Finance Professionals conference in Richmond at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts with dozens of professionals representative of the Federal Reserve, Altria, PNC Bank, Morgan Stanley, etc.

(54) Indacia Turner (Accounting major) participated in an Appomattox Regional Governor’s School board of directors meeting.

(55) C.J. Epperson (Management major), Tyler Epperson (Management major), and Marcus Jones (Management major) represented the College at a Flying Squirrels game courtesy of Atlantic Union Bank.


(56) Destiny Henderson (Management major) earned a paid internship for the summer in Business Operations at Washington Gas in D.C. 
 
(57) Blaise Davenport (MISY major) earned third place at the VSU Hackathon. 
 
(58) Justin Anderson (Marketing major), Tamir Campbell (MISY major), Tyrone Goodrich (MISY major), Andy Lordsamba (Management major), Merwan Mohamed (Accounting major), James Owusu (Management major), and Naiya Ray (Marketing major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by Breeden Construction, U.S. Forest Service, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Colonial Heights, and Virginia Union University. 
 
(59) Six students in Legal, Ethical, and Digital participated in The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Day with Tiffany Hosey (Attorney) and Chris Carson (Enterprise Director).  A big thanks to Taneisha Brown for her hospitality! 
 
(60) Davon Bell (Management major) earned first place relevant to Digital Media at the Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda intercollegiate competition in Richmond. 
 
(61) Cynthia Davis (Accounting major) earned second place relevant to Accounting Principles at the Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda intercollegiate competition in Richmond. 
 
(62) Monet Creque (Accounting) earned first place relevant to Future Business Educator at the Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda intercollegiate competition in Richmond. 
 
(63) Kameron Spence (Management major) earned first place relevant to Business Sustainability at the Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda intercollegiate competition in Richmond. 
 
(64) Kameron Lawrence (Marketing major) earned second place relevant to Integrated Marketing Design at the Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda intercollegiate competition in Richmond. 
 
(65) Nylan Taylor (Business Management major) earned first place relevant to Strategic analysis and Decision Making at the Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda intercollegiate competition in Richmond. 
 
(66) Ruqayah Ebrahim (Business Management major) earned second place relevant to Website Design at the Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda intercollegiate competition in Richmond. 
 
(67) Justin Anderson (Marketing major), Tamir Campbell (MISY major), Monica Codrington (Management major), Nolen Dey (Management major), Tyrone Goodrich (MISY major), Merwan Mohamed (Accounting major), Karma Moore (Finance minor), James Owusu (Management major), and Indacia Turner (Accounting major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by Lenovo, Ascend Performance, Thalhimer, Hopewell Downtown Partnership, Waffle House, 2U, and Atlantic Union Bank. 
 
(68) Justin Anderson (Marketing major) and Monica Codrington (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by Froehling and Robertson, Zenetex, ChamberRVA, Hopewell Public Schools, and Fastsigns. 
 
(69) Blaise Davenport (MISY major) was recognized as the Most Outstanding Junior at a VSU Honor’s Convocation.   
 
(70) Two hundred thirty-six students were recognized for their scholastic achievements at the Forty-Eighth College of Business Awards Show. 
 
(71) Forty students including in Introduction to Business participated in The Hodges Partnership Day.  A big thanks to Louis Dabney for his hospitality! 
 
(72) Thirty students participated in Orkin Day with Karen Bradford (VP). 
 
(73) Donnasia Harper (Marketing major) earned an invite to participate in the NFL Draft the weekend of April 27-29 in Las Vegas where she will be responsible for marketing.   
 
(74) Aliyah Hamer (Marketing major) earned admission to graduate school at Clark Atlanta University to earn her M.B.A. 
 
(75) Indacia Turner (Accounting major) earned an invite to participate in the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) Spring Day in Richmond on April 2. 
 
(76) Thirty-five students participated in VCU Brandcenter Day with Rachel Ensing (Recruiter) relevant to graduate school admission. 
 
(77) Davon Bell (Management major), Tamir Campbell (MISY major), Monica Codrington (Management major), Emanuel Harris (Marketing major), Amaya Moses (Management major), and James Owusu (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by KPMG, Virginia Credit Union, Dunlap & Partners, Binary Formations, Trillium, Henrico County, Austin Brockenbrough and Associates, and Beacon. 
 
(78) Forty students participated in Karm’s Kharm’s Day with Karmeshia Tuck (Owner and VSU alum).  A big thanks to Taneisha Brown for her hospitality! 
 
(79) Nigel Stewart (Accounting major) hosted on campus for a recruiting visit a dozen high school students from his hometown, i.e. Waynesboro. 
 
(80) Kirsten Curran (Management major) was invited to participate in the Women in Construction Conference in Richmond.   
 
(81) Blaise Davenport (Management Information Systems major) and Idayziah Jones (Management major) participated in the HBCU Battle of the Brains intercollegiate competition in Austin, Texas. 
 
(82) Daisha Wyatt (Management Information Systems major) was inducted in to the highly selective Beta Gamma Sigma academic fraternity. 
 
(83) Forty-five students participated in Morgan Stanley Day with Dan Price (Richmond Market Leader) including a lunch and learn along with a jeopardy game in the classroom.  A big thanks to Louis Dabney for his hospitality! 
 
(84) Justin Anderson (Marketing major), Davon Bell (Management major), Cameron Coram (Entrepreneurship minor), Brian Daughtry (Management major), Merwan Mohamed (Accounting major), Karma Moore (Finance minor), and James Owusu (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by the Richmond Education Foundation, Boys to Men Mentoring, and the University of Richmond. 
 
(85) Twelve students participated in a National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) VSU Chapter networking session with alums Sherelle Gordon (Tax Associate at KPGM), Jermaine Perrine (Digital Assurance & Transparency Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers), and Diamond Walker (Senior Tax Accountant at Ernst & Young). 
 
(86) Jazmyne Gaylord (Accounting major) earned a paid internship in accounting for the summer at Meadows Urquhart Acree & Cook in Richmond.   
 
(87) Destiny Sanders (Marketing major) earned an invite to participate in the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASAP) conference. 
 
(88) Amaya Moses (Management major) earned an invite to participate in the Metropolitan Business League (MBL) awards show. 
 
(89) Thirty-five students in Professional Enhancement hosted alum Kelvin Weeks (Universal Banker) and Gerardo Serrano (Banker) from Atlantic Union Bank in the classroom.  A big thanks to Sharon Taylor for her hospitality! 
 
(90) Naiya Ray (Marketing major) was the Top Performer in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by the Richmond Flying Squirrels, Teksystems, Richmond City Council, John Maxwell, and Beyond. 
 
(91) Seventy students participated in Sovereign Infrastructure Group Day with Marshall Lindsey (VP).  A big thanks to Ayse Balas, Taneisha Brown, and Jae-K Hwang for their hospitality!

(93) Blaise Davenport (Management Information Systems major), Ruqayah Ebrahim (Management major), Scott Hill (Management Information Systems major), Reem Idris (Marketing major), and Janay Samuel (Marketing major) participated in a undergraduate bridge conversation with fifteen high school students from Chesterfield County Public Schools.  
 
(94) Ruqayah Ebrahim (Management major) earned an internship for the summer with the Wall Street Diversity Accelerator Program in New York.   
 
(95) Indacia Turner (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for the semester in the VSU Budget Office; she will intern alongside Abraham Schlossberg (Accounting major) as previously announced. 
 
(96) Amaya Moses (Management major) participated in a shadow visit with Jason Guillot (VP) and Gabrielle Gullins (Senior Property Manager) at Thalhimer. 
 
(97) Omari Kilkenny (Accounting major) earned a paid trip to the National Black MBA Association conference to be held in September in Atlanta.  
 
(98) Davon Bell (Management major) and Indacia Turner (Accounting major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by the YWCA, Fahrenheit Advisors, Top Golf, Metropolitan Business League, Richmond Behavioral Health Authority, and BraxB Speaks. 
 
(99) Ruqayah Ebrahim (Management major) and Reem Idris (Marketing major) participated in a Black History Month celebration at St. John’s Church with Governor Doug Wilder. 
 
(100) Janay Samuel (Marketing major) and Abraham Schlossberg (Accounting major) attended the Bethel Campus Fellowship Bible Conference in North Carolina.  
 
(101) Forty students participated in AdvanSix Day with Holly Bosher (Recruiter).  
 
(102) Twenty students participated in MHT Companies Day with Henri’ Thompson (Owner). 
 
(103) Thirty-five students participated in Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union Day with alum Deonte Barkley (Director). 
 
(104) Twenty students in Legal, Ethical, and Digital hosted Jack Berry (CEO) from Richmond Region Tourism in the classroom.  A big thanks to Taneisha Brown for her hospitality! 
 
(105) Seventy students participated in Intact Day with Angela Butler (Recruiter). 
 
(106) Omari Kilkenny (Accounting major) earned an invite to participate in a KPMG competition this semester along with an invite to intern (paid) in accounting for the summer at Keiter.   
 
(107) Amaya Moses (Marketing major) earned a paid internship in marketing and mentoring for the semester at Engage the Foundation. 
 
(108) Kobe Cheseman (Management major) earned a post-graduate paid internship for the summer at Spider Management. 
 
(109) Joel Bowers (Management major) earned a paid internship for the summer at Morgan Stanley.  
 
(110) Justin Anderson (Marketing major), Davon Bell (Management major), Amaya Moses (Management major), Naiya Ray (Marketing major), and Indacia Turner (Accounting major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by Thalhimer, Goldman Sachs, Kendall Hunt Publishing, Owens and Minor, PIC Management Consulting, Bryant and Stratton, and Hopewell Redevelopment and Housing Authority. 
 
(111) Blaise Davenport (MISY major), Reem Idris (Marketing major), and Idayziah Jones (Management major) were selected to participate in the intercollegiate competition Battle of the Brains to be held in Austin, Texas from March 9-13. 
 
(112) Addison Adams (Marketing major) earned an invite to participate in an externship at the Super Bowl in Los Angeles this weekend; she will be responsible for media relations.  
 
(113) Ninety-five students participated in CoStar Day with Chrystal Neal (VP), Tyrone Leake (Recruiter) and alum Angelina Smith (Client Relationship Consultant).  
 
(114) Fifty students participated in Aston Carter Day with alum Marnelle Fanfan (Recruiter). 
 
(115) Thirty-five students participated in Boys to Men Mentoring Day with Warren McCrickard (Executive Director). 
 
(116) Twenty students in Legal, Ethical, and Digital hosted alum Kelvin Weeks (Universal Banker) from Atlantic Union Bank in the classroom.  A big thanks to Taneisha Brown for her hospitality! 
 
(117) Sierra Robinson (Marketing major) on behalf of the student body said of the big reaffirmation of accreditation news pertinent to the College, “I chose to attend the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at Virginia State University because of the prestigious AACSB accreditation so I am along with my colleagues thrilled for reaffirmation.” 
 
(118) Davon Bell (Management major), Dominic Braswell (Management major), and Naiya Ray (Marketing major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by Timmons Group, Owens and Minor, Farm Bureau, Fort Lee Federal Credit Union, C&F Bank, Plush Slippers, and Greensville County Schools. 
 
(119) CJ Epperson (Management major), Jaycee Lowe (Marketing major), Zach Lynch (Marketing major), Naiya Ray (Marketing major) and Nylan Taylor (Marketing major) joined the American Marketing Association, Richmond Chapter as dues paying members. 
 
(120) Forty-five students participated in State Farm Day with Tavorise Marks (Agent).   
 
(121) Forty students participated in Atlantic Union Bank Day with Andi Weissbart (VP).  
 
(122) Twenty students participated in Meadows Urquhart Acree & Cook Day with Matt Thorpe (Accountant). 
 
(123) Fifteen students participated in Growing Your Perspectives Consulting Day with Kaisha McCrea (Owner).
