Spring 2021 Student Accomplishments

The Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at Virginia State University celebrated the following Spring 2020 student accomplishments.

Spring 2021 Student Accomplishments

 

(1) Darius Fair (MISY major) earned a paid internship for the summer as an IT Security Engineer at Unison.

(2) Adiana Brittle (Marketing major) earned a paid internship in marketing at WebStrategies in Midlothian; the internship will be virtual to accommodate COVID.

(3) Jahla Mercer-Smith (Accounting major) earned a paid accounting internship for the summer at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

(4) Alexis Jones (Accounting major) earned an accounting position for after graduation at the technology corporate giant TE Connectivity.

(5) Beyonce Allen (Marketing major) earned a paid summer internship in marketing at RJ Reynolds Tobacco.

(6) Aryanna Maxey (Management major) earned a full time position for after graduation at Beam Suntory.

(7) Jaycee Lowe (Marketing major) earned a paid internship in marketing for the summer at the prestigious Giant Spoon marketing major in Los Angeles.

(8) Amaya Moses (Management major) earned a paid internship in marketing for the summer at the prestigious Giant Spoon marketing major in Los Angeles.

(9) Brianna Williams (Accounting major) earned a paid accounting internship for the summer at Keiter in Richmond.

(10) Khadia Richardson (Marketing major) earned a contract position working to help administer vaccination at the Multipurpose Center.

(11) David Buchanan (Management major), Kobe Cheseman (Management major), Lucinda Conteh (Management major), and Nia Howell (Marketing major) were accepted in to the Morgan Stanley mentoring program.

(12) Tanika Mann (Accounting major and 17 grad) opened her now third business, i.e. Neeka’s Sweet Confections with a storefront at a Charlotte mall; the serial entrepreneur left corporate America at first KPMG and then Deloitte to be her own boss.

(13) Fifteen students in Intermediate Accounting hosted a team from Keiter in the classroom. A big thanks to Art Wharton for his hospitality!

(14) Michael Perry (Management/HR major) earned a paid internship for the summer with Bank of America in Washington D.C. as an advisory development analyst.

(15) Teciara Gambrell (Accounting major) and Donnasia Harper (Marketing major) participated in an entrepreneurship workshop with start-ups hosted by SMN Square.

(16) Aeshia Brown (Management major) contracted with the U.S. Army and upon graduation will be a Second Lieutenant.

(17) Addison Adams, Kyla Best, Jade Chapman, Donnasia Harper, Joel Hughey, and Sierra Robinson (all Marketing majors) participated in an American Marketing Association workshop that included a panel of marketing professionals comprising among others our very own Mykala Daniel (Marketing major and 16 grad).

(18) Jade Chapman (Marketing major) was selected to participate on a team comprised of VSU stakeholders to augment the VSU brand.

(19) Richard Green (MISY major and 20 grad) earned a full-time position as a Cyber Security-Defense Associate at KPMG.

(20) Anjanette Byrd (Accounting and Marketing double major) earned a paid accounting internship for the summer at American Express in New York.

(21) Marcus Jones (Management major) was selected as a Grow with Google participant in the new training initiative.

(22) Mykala Daniel (Marketing major and 16 grad) worked on the Huggies Super Bowl ad. A graduate of the VCU BrandCenter, Mykala is one of three of our students admitted to the prestigious graduate program but the first VSU alum that yours truly is aware of to work on a Super Bowl ad. (23) Sixty-eight students participated in a Morgan Stanley mentoring initiative orientation session.

(24) Ron Chamblis (Management/HR major) and Naykia Rowe (Accounting major) were identified as finalists for the Syneos Scholarship.

(25) Addison Adams (Marketing major), Kyla Best (Marketing major), Jaycee Lowe (Marketing major) and Sierra Robinson (Marketing major) earned a virtual internship for the semester in marketing at PIC Management and Consulting in Richmond.

(26) Jade Chapman (Marketing major) launched her own women’s night wear and skin-care line business.

(27) Tre’Von Tynes (Accounting major and 20 grad) earned a position as an Associate in the financial services industry at Kearney & Company.

(28) Jeff Lee (Accounting major and 19 grad) was hired as a Budget Analyst in the VSU Office of Budget.

(29) Diamond Fayton (Marketing major and December 20 grad) earned a full-time position as a Logistics Management Specialist for the U.S. Army at Fort Lee.

(30) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major and 2017 grad) is competing for Miss Georgia.

(32) Thirty students in Introduction to Business participated in a virtual learning session with James Wasilewski (Owner of Haha to Aha).

(33) More than one hundred students participated in a Black History month Zoom session with alum and Board of Visitors member Greg Whirley (Retired VDOT Commissioner).

(34) Donnasia Harper (Marketing major) earned a virtual internship in marketing at Avant Garden Productions in New York City.

(35) Addison Adams (Marketing major) shadowed NFL executives all weekend in Cleveland to help put on the NFL Draft.

(36) Nimayah Hammond (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for the summer in accounting at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.

(37) Blaise Davenport (MISY major) earned a paid internship for the summer at ServiceNow as an IT Specialist.

(38) Karma Moore (Finance minor) earned a paid internship in finance for the summer at Spider Management in Richmond.

(39) Catera Ruth (MISY major) earned a scholarship from the National Association of Black Accountants Richmond Chapter.

(40) Darrian Lewis (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for the summer at Appomattox Wealth Management in Chester.

(41) Mia Bennett (Marketing major) earned the Virginia International Business Council scholarship in the amount of $500.

(42) Addison Adams (Marketing major) and Blaise Davenport (MISY major) earned invites to join Beta Gamma Sigma.

(43) Tony White (Accounting major) participated in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors conference attended by leading finance companies.

(44) Alahna Knight (Marketing major) earned the ANA Education Foundation scholarship.

(45) Martin Massolena (Accounting major and May 21 grad) earned a full-time position at Allmond & Company in Maryland.

(46) Joshua Heigh (MISY major and May 21 grad) earned a full time position at KPMG in information technology.

(47) Zachary Dickens (Marketing major) earned a paid internship for the summer with Focus and Fabulous in Richmond.

(48) Nigel Stewart (Accounting major) earned the Bert Smith Memorial Foundation Scholarship.

(49) Kyla Best (Marketing major) and Zachary Dickens (Marketing major) participated in the Virginia’s Gateway Region annual dinner with thirty businesses.

(50) Christian Cozart (Marketing minor) participated in a Metropolitan Business League networking event with over one hundred businesses.

(51) Kyla Best (Marketing major) earned a paid internship in marketing for the summer with Abbott Laboratories in Chicago.

(52) Addison Adams (Marketing major) earned an American Marketing Association (AMA) scholarship for $2,000.

(53) Christine Bautista (MISY major) earned a paid cyber-security internship for the summer at AdvanSix for the second year in a row.

(54) Manny Saunders (Management/HR major) accepted a full time position at Beacon in the manager-in-training program.

(55) Christian Cozart (Marketing minor) participated in a networking even with thirty-five businesses in Hopewell.

(56) Relevant to an intercollegiate competition against other schools in Virginia, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) collegiate chapter Phi Beta Lambda and Idayziah Jones (Management major) and Alex Wade (Management Information Systems major) won first place and second place respectively for Business Presentation. Congratulations to Shannon Lee and Jael Rogan (Management majors) on winning first place for Business Sustainability. Congratulations to CeAra Donald (Management Information Systems minor) on winning first place for Community Service. Congratulations to Scott Hill (Management Information Systems major) on winning first place for Emerging Business Issues. Congratulations to Kenneth Bittner (Management Information Systems major) on winning first place for Impromptu Speaking and earning second place for Strategic Analysis and Decision Making. Congratulations to Nigel Stewart (Accounting major) on winning first place for Sales Presentation. A particularly special congratulations to Christine Bautista (Management Information Systems major) on being recognized as the Outstanding Vice President of the Year in Virginia and to Dr. Aurelia Nicholas-Donald on being recognized as Outstanding Advisor of the Year in Virginia.

(57) Eighty-three graduates were recognized at VSU Spring Commencement 2021 for their resilience the past year and for their accomplishments.
