College of Business Fall 2021 Student Accomplishments
(1) Addison Adams (Marketing major), Kyla Best (Marketing major), and Sierra Robinson (Marketing major) along with sixty of their colleagues hosted gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin for a conversation relevant to his experience as CEO of The Carlyle Group. A big thanks to Dong Yoo, Jae-K Hwang, and Dave Coss for their hospitality!
(2) Scott Hill (Management Information Systems major), Nigel Stewart (Accounting major), and Mychala Walker (Management minor) along with thirty students in Organization Policy and Strategy helped host United States Senator Tim Kaine on campus for a conversation relevant to the College’s Minority Small Business Launch Center. (3) Marcus Jones (Management major) received his LLC from the State Corporation Commission for his business M Jones & Company.
(4) Ron Chamblis (Management/HR major) earned an internship in HR at FDIC.
(5) Jovante White (Accounting major) earned an accounting internship for next summer at KPMG; the opportunity will constitute the second year interning for the Fortune 500 firm.
(6) Alex DelVecchio (CISY major) earned an IT internship for the semester in the Petersburg Public Defender Office.
(7) Donnasia Harper (Marketing major) earned an internship for the semester at HBCU Heroes.
(8) Reem Idris (Marketing major) launched her own business entitled DreamBody.
(9) Sakile Cobb (Marketing major) and Shohn Downey (Accounting major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Phlow, George Washington University, and La Quinta by Wyndham.

(15) Aaliyah Duah (Management major) was nominated for HBCU Entrepreneur of the Year relevant to HBCU Tour; Aaliyah owns and operates Financial Revolutionn and authored The Blueprint for Investing, Vol 1.

(24) Addison Adams (Marketing major) and LyAsia Monroe (Management major) in their capacity as student leaders of College organizations contributed to earning a new $7,500 donation from Altria.

(36) Kayla Perkins (Marketing major) earned an internship for the winter at Invstr, a Fintech company based in London; Kayla participated in a summer internship with the same firm.
(37) Daeja Mason (Management major) earned a full time position for after graduation at Tailored Beauty (a Black-owned all natural hair care company) based in Atlanta; Daeja interned this summer at said company.
(38) Christine Bautista (Management Information Systems major), Kadrice Booth (Management Information Systems major), Blaise Davenport (Management Information Systems major), Sodiq Hammed (Management Information Systems major), Aaron Hicks (Management Information Systems major), and Jalon Wilson (Management Information Systems major) joined the National Cyber League; they participated in a workshop with Richard Green (MISY grad and Cyber Defense Security Associate at KPMG).
(39) Addison Adams (Marketing major) in her capacity as President of the American Marketing Association VSU Chapter hosted eighteen students for a marketing workshop that included Ervin Clarke (CEO at Urban Views Weekly).

(54) Kiara Starks (CISY major) earned a full-time position for after graduation at Deloitte as a Tech Analyst.
(55) Aaliyah Duah (Management major) was published; her book is The Blueprint for Investing, Volume I constitutes a twenty-eight page introduction to the subject.
(56) Blaise Davenport (CISY major) earned a paid IT internship for next summer at the Defense Intelligence Agency in D.C.
(57) Donea Brooks (Marketing major and May grad) earned a Digital Marketing Teacher position at Orange County Schools.
(58) Thirty-six students won scholarships from the College of Business.
(59) Joel Bowers (Management major), Sakile Cobb (Marketing major), Jaycee Lowe (Marketing major), and Armand Pierre (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Def Jam, Trillium Technical, Kimley Horn, Winter HR Consulting, Crater Community Hospice, and John Tyler Community College.
(60) Blaise Davenport (MISY major) earned a paid internship for the fall/winter/spring in IT at Virginia Housing in Richmond.
(61) Amoni Chase (Marketing major) earned an internship for the fall/winter at A New Legacy Family Services.
(62) Oshanee Busby (Management major) earned an internship for the fall at Metropolitan Business League.
(63) Emanuel Harris (Marketing major) earned a paid internship for the spring in the Henrico County Manager’s Office.
(64) Nigel Stewart (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for the spring in the Henrico County Manager’s Office.
(65) Christine Bautista (MISY major) earned a paid internship at the Leadership Academy for the fall/winter where she will teach STEM to students at Highland Springs High School.

(72) Christian Cozart (Marketing minor) earned an internship for the fall with the Metropolitan Business League responsible for digital marketing.

(103) Fifteen students participated in Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union Day with Shawn Vattelana (Business Development Specialist); it should be noted that Shawn also facilitated a workshop for the College’s Minority Small Business Launch Center.

(110) Kyla Best (Marketing major) earned a full-time position in marketing at Abbott in Chicago subsequent graduation in May.
(111) Iashea Jackson (Management major) has earned the 2021 Kathy Ivins UCREW Future Leaders Scholarship for $1,500. Iashea is now our fifth student to win the scholarship; past recipients included Aiyana Glover (Marketing major & 18 grad), Sadonia Sylvester (Accounting major & 19 grad), Aqilah Bullen (Marketing major & 16 grad), and Alana Dawson (Marketing major & 14 grad).
