Fall 2019 Student Accomplishments

The Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at Virginia State University celebrated the following Fall 2019 student accomplishments.

(1) Richard Green (MISY major) was selected to participate in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Apple Project.

(2) Jzakaala Hamilton (Marketing major) and Destiny Hodges (Marketing major) participated in the National Sales Conference in Atlanta.

(3) Aishata Wann (Accounting major) earned an invite to again intern in accounting next summer at Ernst & Young in D.C.

(4) Derrick Lowe (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for the semester doing tax preparation at Liberty Tax in Colonial Heights.

(5) Guy DeWeever (Marketing major) and Kyla Frank (Management major) participated in the Congressional Black Caucus conference in D.C.

(6) Addison Adams (Marketing major) earned a marketing internship for the semester at the Interfaith Adult Day Care Center in Petersburg.

(8) Jzakaala Hamilton (Marketing major) earned a marketing internship for the semester at Richmond Magazine; she will join Diamond Fayton (Marketing major) in interning there.

(9) David Buchanan (Management major), Destiny Hodges (Marketing major), D'Angela Jones (Management major), and Destiny Smith (Accounting major) participated in the Richmond Folk Festival by representing the College in the VIP tent.

(10) Derrick Lowe (Accounting major) was accepted in to the study-abroad program and will spend the Christmas break in Brazil.

(11) Shyron Macklin (Marketing major) and Montrell Wynn (Marketing major) were accepted to attend the Ph.D. Project annual conference in Chicago in November.

(12) Donea Brooks (Marketing major) and Amira Sine (Marketing major) participated in the Women's Business Summit in Richmond with seventy businesses.

(13) Innocent Adebiyi (Marketing major) and Kyla Frank (Management major) participated in the HPG Annual Dinner with fifty businesses.

(14) Mykala Walker (Marketing minor) participated in a book-signing and conversation with former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe.

(16) Dinah James (Management major) shadowed Trent Nobles (CEO) at Southside Regional Medical Center.

(38) Dinah James (Management major) and Kyla Frank (Management major) participated in a ribbon cutting and networking event for the opening of the Southside Regional Medical Center's Women's Center with thirty businesses.

(39) Sultan Kenes (Management major and May 19 grad) was admitted to the University of Tampa to earn his M.B.A.

(65) Seven students participated in an entrepreneurship panel conversation with VSU alums facilitated by Jerome Hood (Owner) from Bridging the Gap.

(66) Destiny Blount (Management major) and David Buchanan (Management major) participated in a Young Professionals Networking event in Petersburg with fifteen businesses.

(67) C.J. Epperson (Management major), Marcus Jones (Management major), and Fred Sanders (Management major) participated in the opening of Topgolf in Richmond and joined over one hundred businesses for a VIP reception.

(68) Guy DeWeever (Marketing major) won a pitch competition at Next Way for $1,000.

(69) Erica Pickens (MISY major) earned a full-time IT position at Advantasure.

(70) Bethelhem Beza (MISY major), Walter Boateng (MISY major), and Shaneka King (MISY major) participated in DC CyberWeek and interfaced with scores of employers.

(98) Kyla Frank (Management major) was selected by the CIAA to be featured in their new marketing initiative for the conference; a student-athlete, Kyla is a track/cross-country and business management all-star.

(135) Monique Daniels (Accounting major) because of her job well done this summer interning in accounting for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Atlanta has earned an internship for summer 2020 at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Risk Assurance in Richmond; additionally, she will be the campus ambassador for PwC.

(136) Chamyra Riddick (Management major) earned a paid marketing internship with the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce for the balance of the summer.

(137) Cheyanne Thomas (Marketing major) earned a paid internship the summer at CityLink Administration at the public transit center in her home town Peoria, Illinois.

(142) Stephen Harris (Marketing major) hosted fifty high-school students on campus for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund undergraduate bridge initiative.

(143) Eighteen students participated in a Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda intercollegiate national competition in San Antonio.

(154) Jahmeil Wright (Marketing major) earned a paid internship for the summer as a College Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual in Virginia Beach.

(161) Chris Fisher (Management major) participated in a FBLA entrepreneurship panel with Canterbury Enterprises, Focus and Fabulous, Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, and Upscale Life & Living; said panel was moderated by Darius Holeman (Management major).

(162) Kyla Frank (Management major) earned an internship in the Office of Delegate Charniele Herring at the General Assembly.

(163) Jasmine Canady (MISY major) joined Otis Jones from IBM for a dinner at the Omni for the Richmond Forum with scores of businesses. 

(164) Eldon Burton (Management major 11 grad), Tarik Floyd (Management major and 16 grad), Tiffany Gullins (Marketing major and 14 grad), and Frednesha Sanders (Management major and 16 grad) were selected for the second annual VSU Ten Under 10 honoring the top Virginia State University alums; along with last year’s inaugural class of Jhadee Gordon and Chelsea Jackson the College has accrued 30% of the awardees.     

(165) Adiana Brittle (Marketing major), Lucinda Conteh (Management major), Kyla Frank (Management major), Reem Idris (Marketing major), and Aryanna Maxey (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by the Farm Bureau, Richmond International Airport, Virginia Department of Human Resource Management, Goodwill, Department of Defense, Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Federal Reserve, and On-Ramps.

(166) Jujuan Peel (Management major), Tamia Reese (Marketing major), and Sydney Sears (Management major) guest taught a group of thirty high school students at Hopewell High School.

(167) Essence Bridge (Marketing minor), Darius Holeman (Management major), Imani Ellison (Accounting major) along with CeAra Donald guest taught students at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center relevant to Future Business Leaders of America.

(168) Cristy Hinton (Accounting major) represented the College at the Colonial Heights High School college fair and recruited students to VSU.

(169) Angeline Vilmar (Accounting major) earned a paid summer internship in accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers in McLean. 

(170) David Buchanan (Management major) shadowed James Brazas (Attorney) at the Joel Bieber law firm in Richmond.     

(171) Christine Bautista (MISY major), Lucinda Conteh (Management major), Kyla Frank (Management major), and Aryanna Maxey (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by BB&T, Magellan Healthcare, Winter HR Consulting, Spectra, the Census Bureau, GRPVA, Petersburg Chamber, City of Richmond, and Virginia Union University.

(172) Jasmine Canady (MISY major) participated in a reception for the new CEO at ChamberRVA with forty businesses in Richmond.

(173) David Buchanan (Management major), Kirsten Curran (Marketing major), Darius Holeman (Management major), Shyron Macklin (Marketing major), and Qhalil Woodson (Management major) along with CeAra Donald and Treyvion Hall mentored students at Petersburg High School relevant to Future Business Leaders of America.

(174) Fifteen students in Information Security and Assurance hosted Densmore Bartly (IT Security Architect) from the U.S. Census Bureau in the classroom.  A big thanks to Soma Akkaladevi for his hospitality.
