VSU & DI Program History

Virginia State University was founded in 1882 as a land-grant institution. The University is a co-educational institute that offers baccalaureate and graduate degrees. VSU is a historically black state university; faculty and student population is diverse and numerous ethnic groups are represented.

VSU DI is offered through the College of Agriculture in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. The VSU DI began accepting interns in 1994; the first class began January 1995.
