Mechanical Engineering
Our program offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. The role of a mechanical engineer is to take a product from an idea to the marketplace. The Mechanical Engineering program at Virginia State University prepares students to use problem solving skills to design, develop, build, test, and maintain mechanical devices in both private and public sectors. The Mechanical Engineering program will provide students with a fundamental background of core areas to meet the demands of broad engineering fields with high-technology sectors. Core courses of the program provide knowledges and skills to design and plan for the production of a wide variety products such as transmissions, engine parts, aircraft engines, gas and wind turbines, control systems, sensors and actuators, robots, and more. With a solid foundation in mechanical engineering our graduates will play key roles in a range of industries including automotive, aerospace, biotechnology, computers, electronics, semiconductors, energy conversion, robotics and automation, and manufacturing.
