Welcome to the Virginia State University Department of Engineering. As a top HBCU with a computer engineering program, we are dedicated to nurturing and challenging our students to become the industrial leaders of tomorrow – to be problem solvers, project leaders, communicators, and ethical professional citizens of a global community.
About the Department
The Department of Engineering offers three degree programs: B.S. in Computer Engineering; B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering; B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, students can obtain a minor in computer science.
Our programs are committed to engineering innovation, and interdisciplinary research. Our highly qualified faculty members challenge students to prepare for rapidly evolving fields of science and engineering through innovative curricula and continuous, educational process improvement. We graduate students who are ready to address the complex technological problems of tomorrow, and excel in industry, government, and graduate school pursuits.
Our close collaboration within the College of Engineering and Technology and with the University’s other excellent Colleges create rich options for practice and research. In addition, our numerous relationships and partnerships with industry and government entities provide students with numerous experiential learning opportunities during the summer and academic year.
