Interdisciplinary Studies (MIS)

Customize your Own Master's Degree! VSU’s Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (MIS) degree is ideal for non-traditional students who want to customize their own degree program to fit their specific needs.

It offers a great deal of flexibility and is perfect for working students seeking to advance their careers and education. Students are allowed six years to complete the program making it possible for them to continue working full-time while going back to school. Instead of just concentrating in one field of study, students in the MIS program can combine three or more disciplines selected from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences; School of Engineering, Science and Technology; and the College of Agriculture. The degree requires 39 credit hours of coursework.

Once accepted into the MIS program, each student is assigned an advisor to help plan their curriculum. After all other coursework is completed, each student completes three semester hours of a master’s project or thesis.
