Office of the Dean

Welcome to the College of Natural and Health Sciences at Virginia State University. Through our programsDr. Faison standing for a profile picture in Biology, Chemistry, Nursing, and Psychology, students develop the knowledge, practical experience, and professional relationships they need to pursue meaningful careers, graduate education, and professional study. They learn from faculty who bring expertise in teaching, research, mentorship, and practice—and who recognize the potential in every student.

We believe engagement is central to student success. Our goal is to create an environment where students want to be present: in classrooms and laboratories, working with faculty, participating in research and scholarly activity, joining student organizations, and exploring questions that matter to them and their communities.

Students should leave our College with more than a degree. They should leave knowing how to think critically, work across disciplines, communicate what they know, and apply their abilities to real challenges. We are strengthening the connections among teaching, research, advising, mentoring, and career preparation so that students can see where their education is taking them and understand how each experience contributes to that journey.

I invite you to explore our academic programs, learn about the work of our faculty and students, and discover the opportunities available within the College of Natural and Health Sciences. Whether your next step leads to the workforce, graduate school, professional school, research, or service, we are ready to help you prepare for it.
