Message from the Department Chair
The Department of Chemistry is a small but fast growing department and as a chemistry major, a student will experience enormous interaction with not only his/her peer but also with the departmental faculty who take pride in nurturing, and mentoring their students.
The overall departmental goal is to contribute toward the development of future scientists and professionals. Therefore, our curricula are structured to produce graduates who are strongly grounded in the fundamental and ethical principles of the discipline, possessing highly developed problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, as well as, oral and written communication skills.
Our faculty who are experts in their fields, recognize the importance of academic excellence, practical experience, and global competiveness. They therefore work hard at developing their students academically, engaging them in undergraduate research, and strongly encouraging them to participate in summer internships. Students present their research findings at the local, regional, and/or national meetings. The department is equipped with research-grade instrumentation for hands-on experience.
The departmental website will guide you to more detailed information on the department, the different programs we offer, as well as the faculty and their research interests. Enquiries and questions can be directed to the address below.
Sincerely,
Dr. Grace M. Ndip, Chair
