Honors College Membership
Honors College Membership for Continuing Students
The VSU Honors College has a process for continuing students to be inducted into the Honors College twice a year. Students who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher at VSU, with 24-66 credits, are invited to apply for membership. Essentially, all students who meet this criterion receive an email from Dan each semester inviting them to apply to the program. Students who submit a complete application without any outstanding issues are then invited to participate in the induction ceremony that semester.
Eligibility Criteria
Students who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher at VSU, with between 24 and 66 earned credits, are invited to apply for membership.
Application Process
Eligible students will receive a direct email invitation from the Honors College Director or Dean each semester detailing the application link and specific deadlines. Students who submit a complete application without outstanding issues will then be invited to participate in the Honors College Induction Ceremony that semester.
Ongoing Honors Student Membership
The academic record of all Honors College students is reviewed annually at the end of the spring semester to ensure that students are meeting the benchmarks to renew their scholarship and continue their membership. The essential benchmarks are participation in the Honors College (Honors Fall Induction and Honors Spring Convocation), maintenance of a cumulative 3.0+ GPA, and the completion of 30 academic credits from VSU for the year (Fall through Spring).
Students who do not meet those benchmarks receive notification from the Office of Financial Aid that their scholarship and Honors College membership have been lost. This letter typically comes at the end of May/ beginning of June. The letter invites students who have lost their scholarship to appeal.
