The Department of Teaching and Learning offers majors that lead to licensure in the state of Virginia. One must major in the content areas listed below and minor in Secondary Education if they wish to become licensed. The Department of Teaching & Learning also offers non-endorsement programs that do not lead to licensure.
Candidates who desire to teach at the scondary level should major in the available endorsement areas and declare Seconady Education as a minor.
Learn to become an elementary school teacher in grades PreK - 6.
Study to become a middle school teacher of English, History/Social Science, Math, and Science.

Learn to teach the basics of farming, conservation and natural resources.
Learn to teach the physical sciences by using chemistry to study the molecular composition of our world.
Learn to teach grammar, rhetoric and the fundmentals of English for grades 6-12.
Learn to teach music with a focus on choral theory and performance.
Learn to teach music with a focus on instruments.
