Hybrid Education Residency Opportunity

Virginia State University’s College of Education has partnered with several school divisions to have our students participate in our Hybrid Education Residency Opportunity initiative, a paid practicum and internship which we call the H.E.R.O. program.

H.E.R.O. graduates can receive a Bachelors of Education (BSED) degree, or a Masters of Education (M. Ed) degree in either Elementary or Special Education, and a full license which leads to increased pay, greater upward mobility in the profession, and assists districts in meeting state accreditation with fully certified teachers for each grade level.

Juniors and Seniors in our education programs have the opportunity to address the teacher shortage in Petersburg & Hopewell Public Schools by serving as full-time teachers while they earn a degree.
