Job Description

VSU invites applicants for Adjunct Faculty positions in multiple Academic Degree and Certificate Programs. This position announcement seeks to establish a pool of applicants that may be used in the future as adjunct teaching positions become available

Virginia State University (VSU), a public, comprehensive 1890 Land Grant institution and historically black college/university, invites applications for Faculty positions in multiple Academic Degree and Certificate Programs.

VSU offers 36 undergraduate degree programs, 17 graduate degree programs, 2 doctoral degree programs and 8 certificate programs in its six Academic Colleges: College of Agriculture, Reginald F. Lewis College of Business, College of Education, College of Engineering and Technology, College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Natural and Health Sciences.

Teach up to 18 credit hours (in-person, online via synchronous or asynchronous modalities) per academic semester and provide regular office hours to meet the student needs and promote student success.

This teaching position is non-tenure track and is limited to a one-semester contract but may be considered for additional semesters

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in teaching field from an AACSB accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field required;

Proficiency to teach courses in the following areas: accounting, auditing, finance, management, marketing, business law, business statistics, computer information systems, and cyber security;

Must demonstrate effective and engaging teaching skills;

Must have the ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population;

Proficiency and willingness to adapt new and emerging pedagogies in the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD from an AACSB accredited university, preferred.

Prior teaching experience in a higher education environment is highly preferred;

Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g. Banner/Blackboard) with ability to use technology to enhance teaching and educational experience;

Demonstrated ability to measure, assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
